Exactus buys online supplement retailer, seeks greater transparency

Proving that hemp-derived CBD really is sourced from hemp remains one of the big questions around its legality – and may be a key factor in a recent acquisition.

Exactus, a Virginia-based health-care company with interests in cannabidiol treatments, acquired Hemp Healthy, a supplement firm that owns an e-commerce site selling CBD tinctures, topicals and gelcaps.

Hemp Healthy is an online supplement provider with an established traceability system that offers viewable independent laboratory results of the products it sells.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Exactus also is developing handheld diagnostic tools for detecting health issues such as cancer and hemorrhaging.

In January, a Florida-based extraction company called Ceed2Med acquired a controlling ownership interest in Exactus, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

A week later, Exactus acquired a majority interest in a 200-acre industrial hemp farm in Cave Junction, Oregon. Terms of the Oregon deal were not disclosed.

Exactus trades on over-the-counter markets as EXDID.
