Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has filed suit against a quartet of retailers for selling hemp-derived CBD oil, charging they don’t have licenses.
Koster has been seeking to shut down upwards of 30 unlicensed CBD retailers in the state, according to the Associated Press. All but four shops voluntarily shut down after receiving written warnings in the mail.
The owner of Main Smoke & Gift Shop contended that he ceased selling CBD over two months ago, but Koster’s suit alleges the shop was still selling it on Aug. 3.
A Planet Health Market representative declined to comment, and officials from other two companies couldn’t be reached for comment by the AP.
Missouri has licensed two companies, BeLeaf and the Noah’s Arc Foundation, to produce and distribute hemp-derived CBD oil.
