Sweet Earth Holdings taps former public official as new president

Canadian hemp company Sweet Earth Holdings Corp. has named former politician Amrik Virk as its new president.

The company said in a news release that Virk will also be joining the board of Sweet Earth.

Virk has previously held senior positions in Canadian government, including Minister of Advanced Education and most recently Minister of Technology and Innovation in British Columbia.

Before those posts, he worked for 26 years as a senior officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Sweet Earth grows hemp in Applegate, Oregon, and maintains a line of hemp and CBD products in the U.S. and global market.
